Joel

A severe locust plague devastates the land, prompting a call to lament and mourn, and the priests are instructed to gather the people to cry out to the Lord. The day of the Lord is near, bringing devastation and destruction, but the Lord calls his people to repent and return to him, promising to be gracious and merciful if they do. The Lord responds to the people's cries by promising to restore the land, bless his people, and pour out his spirit on all flesh, causing prophesying, dreams, and visions. God will also gather the nations to judge them for their evil deeds against His people, punishing them and repaying them for their actions, but ultimately remaining in Zion as the hope and strength of His people.

Chapter 1
A severe locust plague has devastated the land, destroying crops and leaving nothing for the people or animals to eat. The people are called to lament and mourn the loss of their food and drink, and the priests are instructed to call a fast and gather the people to cry out to the Lord. The day of the Lord is near, and it will bring devastation and destruction. The people and animals are suffering, and the land is withering away, with even the beasts of the field looking to the Lord for relief from the drought and destruction.
Chapter 2
The day of the Lord is near, a day of darkness and gloom, and a strong and numerous people will invade the land, leaving destruction in their wake. The people will be terrified and the earth will tremble as the Lord's army approaches. The Lord calls his people to repent and return to him with fasting, weeping, and mourning, promising to be gracious and merciful if they do. The people and priests cry out to the Lord to spare them, and the Lord responds by promising to send grain, wine, and oil, and to drive away the invading army. The Lord will restore the land and bless his people, and will pour out his spirit on all flesh, causing prophesying, dreams, and visions.
Chapter 3
God will gather the nations in the valley of Jehoshaphat to judge them for scattering His people, dividing His land, and selling His children into slavery. The nations will be punished for their actions, and God will repay them for their evil deeds. The day of the Lord will bring darkness and destruction, but God will be the hope and strength of His people, and Jerusalem will be holy and protected. In the end, God will cleanse the blood of His people and remain in Zion.
