But Jesus responded by saying: "It was due to the hardness of your heart that he wrote that precept for you

And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

And Jesus said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.

"It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied.
