Psalms 82

God stands among the gods, condemning their unjust judgments and favoritism towards the wicked. He demands they do justice for the poor and oppressed, and rescue them from the hands of sinners. The gods, however, are ignorant and will ultimately die like men, losing their power. God is called to rise up and judge the earth, as He will inherit it with all nations.

1A Psalm of Asaph. God has stood in the synagogue of gods, but, in their midst, he decides between gods2How long will you judge unjustly and favor the faces of sinners3Judge for the indigent and the orphan. Do justice to the humble and the poor4Rescue the poor, and free the needy from the hand of the sinner5They did not know and did not understand. They wander in darkness. All the foundations of the earth will be moved6I said: You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High7But you will die like men, and you will fall just like one of the princes8Rise up, O God. Judge the earth. For you will inherit it with all the nations
