Titus

Paul instructs Titus to correct the churches in Crete by ordaining priests of good character who can teach sound doctrine and refute false teachings. He warns against disobedient people, especially those of the circumcision, who deceive others for gain. Paul provides guidelines for various groups within the church, including old men and women, young men, leaders, and servants, emphasizing the importance of sound faith, self-restraint, and good works. He also reminds believers to be submissive to authorities, prepared for good works, and to avoid evil speech, foolish questions, and heretics, instead focusing on excelling in good deeds and supporting one another.

Chapter 1
Paul writes to Titus, a fellow believer, and instructs him to correct the things that are lacking in the churches in Crete and to ordain priests who are of good character. A bishop must be blameless, hospitable, kind, and just, and able to teach sound doctrine and refute those who contradict it. Paul warns Titus about the many disobedient people, especially those of the circumcision, who speak empty words and deceive others for shameful gain. He instructs Titus to rebuke them sharply so that they may be sound in the faith and not pay attention to Jewish fables or the rules of men who have turned away from the truth.
Chapter 2
Old men should be characterized by sobriety, chastity, and sound faith, while old women should be modest, temperate, and teach younger women to love their families and be submissive to their husbands. Young men are exhorted to show self-restraint, and leaders are to set an example of good works and sound doctrine. Servants are to be submissive to their masters and show good fidelity. The grace of God instructs believers to live soberly and justly, looking forward to the return of Jesus Christ, who gave himself to redeem and cleanse his people.
Chapter 3
Believers are to be submissive to authorities, prepared for good works, and speak no evil of others. They were once unwise and sinful, but God's kindness and mercy saved them through the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. Believers are justified by God's grace and should excel in good works, avoiding foolish questions and arguments. The faithful should also avoid heretics and support one another in good deeds.
